How our initial assessment works
- Tell us the symptoms when you book: which light, when it happens, any noises.
- We test the car: fault codes read, live data checked, and the fault confirmed on the car. A code alone doesn't tell you which part has failed.
- You get a clear report with what's wrong and a fixed price for the repair, sent to your phone.
- You decide. If you go ahead with us, the £75 comes off the repair.
Why not just a free code read?
A quick scan gives you a code, not an answer. Guessing from a code often means buying parts you didn't need. Our assessment finds the actual fault, so you pay once for the right repair.
What we look at
- Engine management and warning lights
- Poor running, misfires and loss of power
- ABS, airbag and other dash lights
- 12-volt electrical faults, batteries and charging
- Faults that other garages couldn't find
We don't diagnose or repair high-voltage faults on electric or hybrid cars. For EVs and hybrids we do routine servicing only.

How much does car diagnostics cost?
Our initial assessment is £75. If you go ahead with the repair here, the £75 comes off the bill.
How long does a diagnostic check take?
Most initial assessments take up to an hour. Some intermittent faults need longer, and we'll tell you before we go further.
My engine warning light is on. Is it safe to drive?
If the light is flashing, or the car is running badly, stop and call us on 01202 425606. If it's on but the car drives normally, book an initial assessment soon so a small fault doesn't become a big one.
